Pasteur's Discovery of Germs

Picture
During the mid 1860's, Pasteur made one of his greatest discoveries yet. When asked for help in preventing his wine from spoiling by Napoleon III, Pasteur discovered that microbes that contaminated and soured wine could be killed by heat. He developed a process called Pasteurization in which heat is used to kill microbes in food and drinks. Soon after this, Louis Pasteur became very interested in a subject called spontaneous generation which is basically a more advanced version of the theory of evolution.
At the age of 45, in 1868, Pasteur suffered a stroke which gradually paralyzed the left side of his body. He continued to work however and his methods continued to greatly help various industries all over France.
